Archeology
Finding Relics and Excavating is a new game mechanic added by Chapter Greymoor that allows you to search and excavate a variety of treasures scattered throughout Tamriel through mini-games.
Relics are valuable items sold by a merchant, totaling over 300,000 gold, rare motifs, jewelry, emotions, and a huge amount of furnishings. The most valuable items are the Dwemer wolf mount and mythical equipment. Items of the new orange grade that provide unique bonuses and do not require a set collection. One thing = one bonus.
Relics are scattered in almost all locations of the game, except that it is logical to Cyrodiil, the Imperial City and the underground part of Skyrim - Reach. Also, new relics will appear in all new game zones of the following additions. In all game locations, with a small chance, traces of relics necessary to start the search will drop out. Absolutely all players will be able to knock out and save them, regardless of the presence of purchased chapters. However, for the searches and excavations themselves, you will need the purchased Greymour chapter.
The beginning of the path of an archaeologist
If you have Greymour, you need to teleport to Solitude, which is in western Skyrim, and find the circle of collectors of antiquities - the headquarters of archaeologists. It is located next to the college of bards and is marked on the map with such an icon.
Once inside, we communicate with the abbess Verita, activate the Eye of the Antiquary on the table and enter the club of archaeologists. You will have two new skill lines: relic search and excavation.
You can start looking. Verita will offer to go through a training quest. It will guide you through the main aspects of your searches and also teach you how to use basic tools.
Search
All manipulations with relics take place in the new game tab of the mission menu, marked with the same icon. There you will see a list of all available relic traces, sorted by location. By default, in each location you will have one starting item, from which you need to start your research. We will teleport to any location of your choice. It will be easier if it has already been studied and the main teleports are not open. In the location, open the menu again and in the topmost tab "Available for locating" we see items that can be searched here. Double click on the desired trail and get into the first mini-game "search for relics".
Finding Relics
The antiquary's eye will expand to full screen. On it you will see a field divided into cells.
The game starts from the bottom with a cell in the center. The task is to capture 6 glowing cells of concentration. The process itself is very simple: we click on any cell adjacent to our territory, and it will join it along with the rest of the cells with the same symbol along the chain.
The whole difficulty is that the number of moves is limited, and you need to choose the most effective route to the concentrations. The bar on the crystal below will show the remaining number of moves.
Initially, the game will be very simple: there will be few cells, and they will be perfectly grouped. However, the game will become more difficult depending on the rarity of the relic: the field will become larger, and the symbols will be better mixed. But you will also have trump cards up your sleeve: as soon as you collect 6 focus, the game will close. A blue area will appear on the location map, in which you need to look for a relic.
If the moves in the window ended before you collected all six points, several additional zones will appear on the map according to the number of uncollected concentrations, in which you will need to get hints.
If you don't feel like running, you can click on the relic again and try to improve the result. As a rule, this comes out faster than collecting location clues.
The search for relics and clues is the same: you need to run to the blue area and go into it. Then we go to the collection menu, the tools section and activate the item "Antiquarian's Eye". A small blue comet will appear in front of the character, indicating the direction of the relic with a flame.
We stomp in this direction until we buried ourselves in a heap of earth. If the first time did not work, we activate the Eye again and again until we find it.
Having found a pile, we click on it. If we looked for a clue, it will be counted, and the area will disappear, and we will run to the next one.
Excavations
In the last area, clicking on the found pile of earth activates the second mini-game - excavation. A fenced piece of land divided into squares and all the available tools will appear on the screen. By default, this is the already familiar Eye and a brush. The eye helps to find the relic: we click on the cells, focusing on the color, trying to determine the exact location.
The gradation is standard: from red, if very far, to green, if hit. At the same time, if you hover over an area already marked with a color, a gray halo will appear, showing the radius in which the relic is guaranteed. Having found the exact position, use a brush to remove the layers of earth above it.
As soon as the relics are completely exposed, its search will be counted, and you can look for additional rewards by digging nearby. The process is also limited in the number of moves by the timeline at the top. Every action will waste it. As the rarity of relics grows, the field will become more complicated: the layers of the earth will become much larger, the eye will not always pierce them, and along the territory, in addition to rewards, traps will also be hidden: smoking cells that explode you when you try to dig them out. The tools will also grow.
As soon as all the rewards are dug up, the relics are broken or the moves are out, the game will end. You will receive the relic itself, a clue for finding the next one, and various items depending on the additional rewards dug up.
If it was not possible to unearth the relic, simply activate the Eye again and look for a heap nearby. Trying to lose again. Finally, in this process it is impossible.
Next, we just dig the relics and look for traces of the next. The second in order in the location are usually blue relics. To search for them, you need to pump the search thread to the third level and add a skill point to the corresponding skill.
Therefore, most likely, you will initially have to run around the starting green relics until the branch sways. Conveniently enough, simple relics can be searched several times. At the same time, additional entries will open for them: funny text notes about the nature of objects, which are very interesting to read.
Relics are opened in locations in a chain one after another. But there is another option. In any location of the game, with a small chance, you can drop a trail of a relic, which, if your skill level allows you, you can search out of turn. Traces are not for sale, but judging by the test server, like the entire relics tab, common to the account.
If you do not have the Greymoor chapter, you will simply collect traces of relics and you can track their list all in the same menu. And after purchasing the chapter, you can go in search of all accumulated at once.
Skill branches
The skill branches are divided into two parts. The first facilitates the mini-game in the Oka, the second facilitates the search for heaps, chests and excavations.
- The first skill to level up in the search is the grade of relics that you can search. In order: green, blue, purple, gold and mythical orange.
- The second skill increases the number of moves in the ocean.
- The third one unlocks the first skill. Activating it will recolor a hexagonal group of cells in one color, taming your route.
- Four will add charges for skills, and then two more skills: one will add all the cells with the selected symbol to your territory.
- The last skill: capture a whole row of 4 to 6 cells in any chosen direction. It is for them that it is very convenient to get to the concentrations. Increases the starting area by one row of cells.
Excavation branch
- The first skill pumps the brush. It grants intuition points when used, which can be used to activate more advanced tools. The same scale also grows with pumping.
- The second is pumping an eye. It searches deeper and better shows the area where the relic is located.
- The third skill opens the shoulder blade. She spends her intuition points and digs into several layers of the rock at once. For half of the scale, three layers, for the whole - 6 layers. However, if the shovel hits the relic, it will be damaged by the health bar at the top of the screen. If the strip ends, the relic will break and you will have to start over. Also, when pumping, the shovel will be able to destroy rifts - those same traps marked with smoke. If you dig them up in any other way, the relics will also be damaged.
- The fourth skill makes it easier to find piles of earth on the surface, highlighting them with a bright blue halo.
- The fifth will increase the number of moves available at the excavation.
- The sixth will open the last tool - a heavy shovel. This tool digs a 3 by 3 area into two layers. However, it digs only the soil of the same height, so that it can be used as efficiently as possible only on an already leveled site. Pumping will allow you not to waste your intuition with a chance.
- The seventh skill of the branch stands out from all, because has nothing to do with archeology and is more of a nice bonus. It highlights all the chests, making them very easy to find. Illuminates with the same bright blue halo. If on the surface in the presence of mods this is not particularly necessary, then in the dungeons its benefits are difficult to exaggerate.
Awards
This list includes treasures sold by the merchant for gold, ancient orc, nord and altmer motifs, body and face paints, a couple of decorative crowns, an emote, a new music box, a unique siege weapon of the magic spear, and many furnishings. And, of course, the same Dwemer wolf and mythical pieces of equipment.
Mythics
There are 6 of them at the moment:
- Light Gloves Thrassian Stranglers. They increase the magic damage dealt when killing opponents, but also increase the damage to you. All charges are dropped when entering invis.
- Medium boots - snowmobiles. Immunity to immobilization, slowdown, but no sprints in battle.
- Necklace Persistence. Strongly regenerates mana if stamina drops.
- Ring of Malacath's Cruelty. 25% more damage, but no crits at all.
- Ring of the Wild Hunt. +15 speed in battle, +45 out of battle. No negative effects.
- Heavy Chest Embrace of the Blood Lord. Your bash imposes an indelible curse on the enemy, which regains your mana when opponents hit a block once per second. Only works on one enemy.
It won't be easy to get mounts and things. They sit on the very tops of the branches and are divided into parts scattered across locations. Myths by 6, and the wolf by 17 parts. Accordingly, in each location you will have to first develop to a part, and only then dig it out, which will take a lot of time. However, the reward is appropriate.
